Mission

To be a thriving Hui (community) of outrigger canoe paddlers in the Pacific Northwest dedicated to training, racing and enjoying the water. We strive to honor and respect the cultural roots of outrigger paddling, to be a home away from home for paddlers from Hawaii and the Pacific and to take good care of the waterways we love.

Club Values

Kuleana

A responsibility that is also a privilege.

It is our responsibility and privilege to take care of our canoes, fellow paddlers, and the waterways we love. We treat club leaders and members with respect and listen to our coaches with an open mind. We give back to the club by supporting new and seasoned paddlers and contributing to the work that keeps the club running.

Kūpaʻa

Unwavering commitment, loyalty, determination.

We persevere, especially in the face of a challenge. We choose to be paddlers, so we strive to do it well. We show up for ourselves and our team. We always work to do better and represent our club well.

Laulima

Many hands, cooperation, unity.

Paddling takes many hands: hands to carry canoes, to orchestrate races, to run our club. We always show up to lend a hand. We know that cooperation is the heart of paddling. When we work together, we’re not six individuals: we’re one team.

Haʻahaʻa

Humility, humbleness.

We strive to show up with humility. This means knowing our strengths without arrogance and valuing the contributions of everyone on our team. We know that there is always more to learn. We see the value in giving our time and energy to newer paddlers to help them build skills and experience.

Leʻaleʻa

Fun, joy, happiness.

We paddle because we love being on the water with our ʻOhana Waʻa.
